“I belong to the indigenous nationality of Quijos. We belong to the Ecuadorian Indigenous Confederation (CONAIE) grassroots movement. I went on a trip to Denmark to represent COICA (Amazon Basin Indigenous Coordinator) to give a conference on “Defending the defenders”. All of the sudden, I got a message from my sister: ´The Misahuallí River flooded, we don´t know how mom and dad are. Your children are there. The river is taking everything away´”.
